Designing Brand Book
Improving Online Communication &
Creating Story and Personalization for the Website
My skills were challenged during the brand development. By constantly pushing the comfort zone I have learned a lot. I have transformed the “Push” communication of the brand into a “Pull”. Therefore I was able to set a new, fresh direction for the brand, where we skyrocketed the organic traffic by delivering value.
Light-point develops, produces, and distributes lighting products, combining creative solutions with stylish Scandinavian design and a high level of quality. Cast aluminum, the latest LED technology, and pure, aesthetic design are the three most essential components in an extensive and growing product range. The business was founded in 1995 based on a passion for aesthetics and functionality.
The website was lacking key factors for customer satisfaction. Although it was no part of the initial agreement I have a look into the possible ways of improvement. This ended up being a bit part of my involvement with the brand. The visual and verbal communication lacked coherency and contained many small mistakes which were lowering the presented value of the website and so lowering the value of the products themselves.
Light-point was developing a brand book in collaboration with me. One of the lacking elements was an easily understandable manual that explains all of the core information about the product. I got excited about this part due to its complexity. Although it might not see at the first glance. There were several factors the keep in check whilst designing, like the size and the amount of the information explained in the document. These contradicting rules created an interesting challenge from a simple design. It was about finding the balance between the two.
I have advised the design team about the complexity of the initial iterations. The original designs could not fit the complexity of the information to the size spectrum while keeping an easily readable format. The final state contained all the core information for the clients whilst keeping simple and eye-pleasing visuals.
